AMCCOURSE has been set up with the aim to assist overseas trained doctors to prepare and be proficient to sit the AMC MCQ Examination. The following information will guide you through the opportunities for Overseas Trained Doctors in Australia. 

OPPORTUNITIES FOR DOCTORS IN AUSTRALIA
Typically, an overseas trained doctor wishing to work in Australia must meet certain basic requirements. Detailed information and a Checklist and factsheets for OTDs are available on the following website. http://www.doctorconnect.gov.au/


There is currently a major shortage of Doctors in Australia.
The Australian Medical Council administers examinations for overseas trained doctors (OTD) who intend to train further and practice medicine in Australia. It has opened up centres in India for the AMC examination. This creates an opportunity for Doctors to sit the exams in India.

To determine eligibility to sit the AMC examination an applicant must complete and lodge the following application forms in accordance with the procedures outlined in the AMC booklet:
• Form A
• PSV Form
• Supporting documentation

• Qualifications: Primary Medical Degree/Diploma
• Personal Identification: Passport / Drivers licence / PAN card / Photograph
• Statutory Declarations/Affidavit Witnessed Overseas
• Identity: Personal Identification
•  Application forms and supporting documents not witnessed as specified will not be legally recognised in Australia and will not be accepted.

Primary Source Verifi cation initiated
Once the AMC ensures that applications are complete, accurate and comply with AMC requirements, Primary Source Verification is initiated. The AMC forwards the PSV form and primary medical degree to the International Credentials Services of the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (EICS) for verification.An applicant can proceed along the AMC examination pathway as a ‘provisional candidate’. Candidature status remains as ‘provisional’ until the EICS verifies the documentation and Primary Source Verification is complete.

 
  • Applying to sit the AMC Multiple Choice Examination
  • Eligible AMC candidates, who wish to sit the AMC multiple choice question (MCQ) examination, need to complete and lodge Form C-1 for the first and any subsequent attempt at the MCQ examination.
  • To apply to sit the AMC MCQ examination the applicant must complete and lodge Form C-1 and examination fee before the closing date for the examination.
If you have received Form C-1 from AMC after step 1, you are eligible to apply to sit the AMC MCQ Examination.

  • Sit AMC Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) Examination

ExaminationApplications must be received before the closing date of an examination series.
The MCQ examination consists of 300 multiple choice questions in two parts (150 questions in each part) administered on one day covering the disciplines of Paediatrics, Internal Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Psychiatry and Surgery.

  • Application – AMC Clinical Examination
If you have passed the MCQ examination you are eligible to apply to attend the AMC Clinical examination by lodging Form C-2.
 
 
 
  • Sit the AMC Clinical Examination held in Australia
 
  • Upon successful completion of the clinical examination you are eligible to apply for the AMC Certificate
 
  • Apply to the Medical Boards for registration to practice as a Doctor in Australia.
